Emmanuel Agida, 18 year old University of Benin Students becomes Youngest Ecowas Youth Ambassador


A 100 level student of the department of Political Science, Uniben, Emmanuel Agida (popularly known as Uniben Jagaban) have broken the bars to emerge as the youngest Ecowas Youth Ambassador in History.


Amb. (Hon) Emmanuel Agida was recently appointed an Ecowas Youth Ambassador by the Office of the president, West African (Ecowas) Youth Council, Conseil Des Jeunes D’Afrique De L’iquest, Cape Verde, as confirmed by the board of the Council making the youngest ever to appointed in history.


The appointment is connected with the identified laudable antecedents of dedication, hard work, and diligence that Amb. (Hon) Emmanuel Agida has proven in service to Humanity and the commendable works as an advocate and relentless crusader of promoting entrepreneurship for African Youths.


The appointment letter presents this news as it’s accompanied with all the necessary documents attached to the diplomatic mission, including a diplomatic ECOWAS ID card, ECOWAS Certificate, appointment letter and a specialized auto mobile plate number to foster ease of the Ambassador’s movement across the ECOWAS region.


Emmanuel Agida’s relentless effort cannot be denied to be unfelt in the University of Benin Student community, though in 100 Level, Emmanuel Agida was actively involved in the School Fee hike protest during his first semester in school. 

He was also actively involved in the ASUU strike against the Federal Government and making rounds of show on Channels TV, ITV Benin and the likes.


Information also gathered that he currently serves as the deputy chief whip of the Political Science Dept. Supreme Parliament and a stakeholder of the Social Science Faculty as he fondly moves with the Promethean Executives and the Faculty Governor, Ini Stephen.


Outside the school community, Amb. (Hon) Emmanuel Agida is a Youth Influencer, Advocate for good governance, and serial entrepreneur. 


He has served in different capacities and championed many courses in the light of Youth Development and participation, something he views as a life purpose.


In 2019, at the age of 17, he was appointed as the Special Assistant to the Commissioner for Women, Children, and Social Affairs in Osun State, becoming the youngest political appointee in Nigeria.


This award adds to the profile of the young honoree who is a recipient of several awards in the light of his active involvement in the Youth Renaissance through his works.
