Prof Salami takes over as UniBen 10th VC


The new Vice Chancellor, University of Benin (UniBen), Prof. Lillian Salami, has solicited the support and cooperation of
staff and students of the institution to make it compete with other others globally. Prof. salami made the call on Monday in Benin shortly after taken over as the 10th Vice Chancellor of the institution.

“We must harness our strength through cooperation so that we can take the university to the next level and continue to maintain its pride among the best university,”


My administration will invest in innovation curriculum and teaching to deliver better ways of teaching and provide practical experience to our students. This will ensure that our student are marketable globally and relevant to present and future demand,” she said. She said she had always done well in all the capacities she had served in the university before her current appointment. “There is no doubt we have challenges but those challenges are surmountable and I am here to do justice to those challenges. The reasons why we are here is primarily for the students. We would look into the accommodation, structure as well as staff welfare”.

“We must have a very conducive environment. We cannot produce hoodlums.We need to have an environment that is friendly to students in order for them to learn better,” she added. Prof. Salami promised to build on his predecessor’s achievement to advance the institution to an era of modern and world class institution of learning. Earlier, the immediate past Vice Chancellor, Prof. Faraday Olunmwense, described Prof. Salami as a very proactive and progressive minded person who will take the university to a greater heights.
