The University Management has received disturbing reports of the collection of unapproved charges by some staff from students assigned to them for project supervision. This becomes more worrisome when it is alleged that such staff victimize and frustrate students that refuse or are unable to pay the unauthorized amount.
The University Management seriously frowns at this unwholesome development as it not only perverts the prestigious image of the University but does enormous damage to the excellent academic profile of the Institution.
It is also pertinent to reiterate that such actions contravene the provisions of Chapter 12, Regulations 4(f), (I) and (s) of the Regulations Governing the Service of Senior Staff of the University.
Consequently, staff who are involved in this-illegal practice are hereby sternly warned to desist forthwith from this illegality as it is tantamount to gross misconduct for which severe sanctions will be imposed on anyone found wanting.
Deans and Directors of Institutes are hereby enjoined to disseminate this warning to all staff of their Faculties, and should firm up modalities to monitor the activities of their staff to ensure compliance with the provisions of the University rules and regulations in this regard.
Thank you.
