In a bid to fulfill it's manifesto of proactive intervention in students matters, the NANS
Zone B Secretariat was relocated to the University of Benin on Monday 18th December 2017. The Delegates were ably led by the Coordinator of the Zone, Comr. Godson Okereke.
Upon arrival at the University of Benin, members of the Zonal Executives were welcomed by students of the University and students comrades, where they immediately went to the Vice Chancellor's Office (VCO) and held an emergency meeting with the university authorities in a bid to settle and resolve the dispute which had led to the suspension of the Students' Union Executives and Parliament.
The meeting was headed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics, Prof. E. Iribhogbe, and Deputy Vice Chancellor Ekenhuan Campus, Prof. George Eriyamreru and other prominent members of the University Governing Council were also present.
After long dialogue with the authorities, the both parties came to a compromise and agreed to uplift the suspension of the Union leaders within a short period of time and thereafter negotiation for the reduction of fees would begin.
However, it has come to the notice of NANS Zone B Executives that of all the tertiary institutions in Edo State, only two has a working students' union, we hereby demand that the managements of these institutions sit tight and allow democracy in the studentry.
Lastly, the Zonal Executives headed by Comr. Godson Okereke popularly known as Aluta Bishop has also warned students comrades and stakeholders who negotiate partially, selfishly and sell out students struggles in a bid to enrich themselves to desist from those acts.
Reporting for duty,
Comr. Arigbe Victor,
Director of Special Duties, NANS Zone B.
