S.U.G Newsletter: A NEW DAWN

With a joyous heart and in the spirit of service, we the entire newly elected executive wish to thank all UNIBEN student for their massive support during and before the Student Union Government Election.

       The Newly Elected Executive Council were sworn in on Monday (25th April 2016) by the principal officers of the University and some highly respected dignitaries both within and outside the school.
      It is a known fact that the God factor cannot be underestimated so the swearing- in ceremony started with the opening prayers, thereafter the Master of Ceremony (MC), the UNIBEN spokesman, the Public Relation Officer of the University Mr. Michael Osasuyi who did great job by making the occasion a lively one but ended up skipping the usual ‘’item 7’’ (LOL).
       After due protocols were observed, the newly elected members of the Student Union Government executive council were sworn in by the chief magistrate Edo state ably represented by Barr. Nosa Musoe ESQ with the Assistance of the ever peaceful and student loving Vice Chancellor of this great citadel of learning. Students and leaders present could not withhold their joy as the HALL 3 “Arrow boys’’ kept the ceremony lively with a whole lot of cheers and arrows. Present there also were the parents of the Newly elected president Mr. and Mrs. Obakpolo who could not hold back their joy as a lot of ‘’GBOSAS’’ were  given to them.
      Once again special thanks goes to the entire Uniben student for their support to see these set of executive emerge, we say God bless you. It will not be complete if a special thanks is not given to the out gone executive and the NANS comrades who were present at the swearing- in ceremony.
      We hereby wish to inform you that the Student Union Government now has a functional Judicial Arm headed by the chief justice and a Functional Court.
     In the spirit of merriment, the Legislative and Judicial arm of the Student Union Government were sworn in Tuesday 26, 2016.
    In conclusion, let’s not forget that the Student Union Government has come and fully set for a SAFE IMPACT and is ready for a PROACTIVE REPRESENTATION.
   We the executive council wish to use this medium to seek for the co-operation of the students to always make the June 12 Office a  point of contact in case of any emergency and should be free to air their views as it is our duty to listen because ‘’you speak, we listen’’.
After a long term meeting with the number one student of the University of Benin, the Dean of Student. The Following resolution were reached between the SUG IMPACT Executive and the Dean of Student.
Steady water supply in the shortest period of time.
Hall 3 locked toilets will be opened in no distant time.
Improvement in Hall 4, as the roofs would be removed for new ones and the height of the building raised to reduce the constant hot temperature in the Hostel before painting.
Subscription of all decoders in Halls of residence
Improvement in sporting activities at the Ekewan Campus whose project has been awarded.
The increment of the ATM Machines in Ekewan campus.

In all, let’s always endeavour to handle the newly renovated facilities in the Halls of residence with full care to ensure a conducive and convenient environment.
